Understand the new trait system
Each soybean trait system works with selected herbicides. In the case of Enlist E3 soybeans with advanced herbicide tolerance to 2, 4-D, glyphosate and glufosinate, Enlist™ herbicides can be used with confidence from the pre-plant burndown to the R2 stage.
It’s important all equipment operators understand which herbicides are registered for use in each soybean trait system and the location of fields related to each system. And never apply dicamba herbicides to Enlist E3 soybeans.
Plan ahead
Will the trait system transition be full or partial? Either way, understand and make a plan for any new procedures that will be necessary to reduce confusion or any in-season product mix-ups.
Record keeping is essential to help track trait systems planted in each field. This is especially important if a farmer is making a partial switch that will require extra diligence, including thoroughly cleaning equipment sprayers between applications of different trait systems. Always double check the trait system planted in each field before applying any crop protection product.
Follow label directions
Farmers are constantly being reminded to read and follow product labels. This is especially important when switching to a new soybean trait and managing weed control with products associated with each system. Following label and manufacturer directions will avoid contamination issues. Corteva Agriscience’s Label Finder provides a handy resource for information on product labels and application directions.
