Prospect™ Herbicide, a New Pre-seed Herbicide for Use Ahead of Seeding Canola
CALGARY, AB, Jan. 10, 2020 – Today, Corteva Agriscience Canada is pleased to announce that Health Canada’s Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) has approved Prospect herbicide with Arylex™ active for use ahead of seeding canola in Canada. This new canola pre-seed product will be available at select retail locations across Western Canada in spring 2020.
“Canola continues to be an important crop for farmers across Western Canada. It is important that they get their canola crops off to the best start possible. Adding Prospect herbicide as a tank mix to glyphosate will provide multi-mode action control, as well as more complete control than glyphosate alone,” said Mark Nisbet, Product Manager with Corteva Agriscience Canada. “We are excited about the launch of Prospect and the opportunity it provides for our customers as it’s another tool to help them manage resistance on their farms.”
In 2019, Corteva Agriscience launched 55 Prospect research authorizations across Western Canada. Farmers were provided with Prospect demo product to test on their own farms. Overall, positive feedback was received from these producers.
Prospect (group 4 and group 14), when tank-mixed with glyphosate (group 9), will provide three modes of overlapping control against hard-to-control weeds. This combination will provide better control than glyphosate alone on key weeds, including cleavers (overwintered and group 2 resistant biotypes), hemp-nettle, flixweed, narrow-leaved hawk’s beard, dandelion and many more. Prospect also provides consistent weed control when applied at 5 gal/ac spray water volume, so farmers will save time hauling water. Thanks to the power of Arylex™ active, farmers can “Just GO” on small or large weeds in cool or dry conditions.
